We are proud to offer this original, one-of-a-kind anime production cel used in the making of Studio Ghibli's Princess Mononoke (aka Mononoke Hime), the 1997 Japanese animated historical fantasy feature film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli. Roger Ebert ranked the movie sixth on his top ten movies of 1999 and Mononoke also became the highest-grossing movie in Japan shortly after its release. It was the most expensive animated film at the time of release and Miyazaki personally checked each of the 144,000 cels in the film and is estimated to have redrawn parts of 80,000 of them.
Large, perfectly centered image of a shirtless Prince Ashitaka. He's helping work the bellows of the Iron Town foundry. Single-layer, theatrical-sized cel that measures 9 inches by 14 inches and comes with unstuck, non-matching color copy background. Includes a Certificate of Authenticity. The cel is in excellent condition with almost no traceline fade. Come protected for shipping in a polypropylene bag. Rare chance to own original art from this Ghibli classic.
