Rare, original, one-of-a-kind production pan cel used in the making of the 1988 all-time classic anime film, Akira. Tense scene when Kaneda, Kai, Yamagata & Kuwata are surrounded by soldiers after the Colonel showed up in the army helicopter.
Two-layer (C14/D17) cel. This anime cel comes with unstuck non-matching color copy Akira background and matching partial douga pencil drawing (D17). Cel is in very good condition with some minor to moderate traceline fade as expected in cels of this vintage. There are also some minor dents/creases and crease lines at the bottom & top left corners. Cel layers are stuck together with the registration holes slightly off-set. This is an oversized pan cel measuring 17.25 inches by 11 inches. From Sequence 3, Cut 90. It comes protected in a fresh polypropylene cel bag for safe shipping. Please see the photos. You might see some reflections on the pictures, not on the cels.
Includes a Certificate of Authenticity stating that this art was used in the production of the Akira movie. Created by legendary director, Katsuhiro Otomo, over twenty years later this film remains the greatest technical achievement in the history of cel animation. It's still one of the top-grossing animated films of all time. The June 2002 issue of Wired Magazine ranks Akira among the top 20 greatest SF films of all time and is the only animated feature listed among such films as Blade Runner and Star Wars. Warner Bros. recently announced that the long-delayed live-action movie adaptation will open May 21, 2021, directed by Taika Waititi (Dr. Strange & Thor: Ragnarok).
