This is an original, one-of-a-kind production cel featuring Shakoukai, also known as Polite Society, one of the memorable “Monster of the Week” youma characters from the classic 1992 Sailor Moon television series. She was voiced by the late Yoko Kawanami in the Japanese version.
Appearing in Episode 37 of the first season, “Let’s Become a Princess: Usagi’s Bizarre Training,” this striking cel captures the character’s elegant yet unsettling presence. The sculptural shell-inspired costume design contrasts beautifully with the cool blue background wash, highlighting the refined but sinister aesthetic that defined many early Sailor Moon antagonists.
The cel includes its matching D-layer douga and a non-matching copy background. Together, they represent authentic hand-painted Japanese animation production art used during the creation of the original television broadcast.
